Chris discussed all the options; we could have installed ground source heating, but the property just isn't suitable for underfloor heating - Chris was pragmatic about the cost to the environment of the removal of all the spoil from inside the house of doing this. We settled on a mains pressure system with condensing gas boiler. The job has been phased, with the main boiler and the tank boing installed and plumbed very efficiently (about 6 days) back into the old radiators and HURRAH! The house is finally warm! New radiators are now being installed as the build continues, and Chris has been really helpful(you know - just when the plan was going smoothly, another building crisis means a bit of emergency plumbing is needed!) in our hour of need. All this with surprisingly little disruption to our family and with no mess left at the end of each working day. Chris and his team work extremely efficiently together, and do so with great humour. The next project is to install some rainwater harvesting and solar top-up for the hot water. Chris's knowledge and ability to balance green issues with practicality is excellent. During the first fix, the team laid out their pipe runs quickly and accurately, fitting in flexibly with the other tradesmen and helping us overcome any problems we had failed to anticipate. This continued with boiler installation, fitting out of the bathrooms and
kitchen. They made a special effort to complete the upstairs bathrooms by our deadline, and coped well with the unique problems
thrown up by our supplying non-standard sanitaryware bought from a local salvage yard. This resulted in us being able to move into the
house earlier than anticipated.
Pulteney St. Plumbers always provided us with a personal, friendly service. If we had a criticism, it was that bills came infrequently
(not something that would worry many!) and weren't always itemised, making it less easy to break down the cost of various time and materials.
But this needs to be seen in context of the fact that they stayed well within the estimates given when they costed the work.
In short, we would not hesitate to recommend Chris and his team for their high standards of workmanship, excellent communication and
